Sunday Morning

“Generally speaking, the most miserable people I know are those who are obsessed with themselves; the happiest people I know are those who lose themselves in the service of others...By and large, I have come to see that if we complain about life, it is because we are thinking only of ourselves.”        President Gordon B. Hinckley

Random Stuff

I can't believe it is the last week in October already...I feel like Rip Van Winkle...only with out the excessive sleeping.
 I thought that I would share a few of the things that have been going on around here this month.

I found this at a thrift shop, and can't wait to redo it!

We've been building a shed.
  My husband thinks it is for storing tools...
The kids think it is a clubhouse...
I plan to use it for an arts and crafts studio...

I've been on a pancake kick.
Apple pancakes and pumpkin pancakes.

My chair broke.
So I cut the caning out and think I will upholster it.

My daughter made some cool crayon art for her Reflections project...the theme was "Diversity Means..."

We harvested our honey.
We didn't get a lot, but are looking forward to being more experienced and established next year.

I made carmel apples.

My husband brought me a boquet of autumn leaves.
I love them.

My husband and kids have gone fishing the past two weekends.
Aren't those beautiful fish?

I hope you have a great day!

My Butter Girl

Anyone elses' kid have a deep attachment to butter?

I found her this way under the table the other day...
We have to remind her to eat the roll with her butter.

I just about had a heart attack...

Have any of you other bloggers ever gotten the "Your blog has been deleted page?"
It was super scary.
All info from blogger on this topic is confusing and time consuming.
But now it is suddenly back.  For now.
I read a great article awhile back about backing up your blog.
It was on Funky Junk's site.
I'm going to review that, back up my blog right now, and would encourage you to do the same.

Have a great day!

Printable{!} Halloween Pillows

So I was browsing through pinterest awhile back and pinned these really great Halloween printables that were included in a tutorial for a wall hanging.

The cool part was that you attach some muslin to a sheet of cardstock and just run it through your printer, the image prints onto the fabric {I know, right?!}, and you frame them for your wall.  Well, I'm a bit of a pillow fanatic and so I decided to print the bat and the skull and make them into pillows instead.

If you would like give it a try, check them out here

P.S.  Andrea: There is an owl there too...but it doesn't have any legs.

October Visiting Teaching Message

"In the Book of Mormon we read about exemplary young men who were exceedingly valiant, courageous and strong.  "Yea, they were men of truth and soberness, for they had been taught to keep the commandments of God and to walk uprightly before him" (Alma 53:21).  These faithful young men paid tribute to their mothers--their examples and teachers." -Julie B. Beck

October's Visiting Teaching Message teaches that even in today's tough world, we women can teach our children and youth strong moral values, and to
 walk
uprightly before God.

I know that as a mother, this is something that is in the forefront of my mind and heart--that if I can raise my children to be "valiant, courageous, and strong", and to "walk uprightly before God", then I will have succeeded.

So this month, I thought it would be fun to include with the message my favorite instruments for walking...high heels!

To make your own cute heels, you will need:
Black cardstock {don't worry--you can print on it and if you look carefully can see the template...or I also tried using this pearled black, which also worked}
Paper for the lining {I tried both regular paper and cardstock and either works fine...you can go any direction here...a fun and feminine print or something more festive for October}
Glue or doublestick tape
Scissors
Ribbon or flowers or buttons to decorate your shoe
A fun treat to put inside
Template for outside of shoe {designed by Ellen Hutson, http://www.ellenhutson.com/}
Template for inside of shoe
The Message from the Ensign
Seasonal Cider Recipe
Shoe Tag {for the inside of the shoe}

Instructions:
Print out your templates
Cut and fold templates
Secure with tape or glue
Adorn shoe
Print our the message, recipe and tag {I just used regular white printer paper for this}

Trim message, recipe and tag
Assemble

Happy Visiting Teaching!
P.S.  Thanks to my friend Julie for helping me out with these!

Finally Fall!

Last week I pulled out my fall decorations!

Although I am a little embarrassed to admit it, I have 7 {!} storage totes dedicated just to autumn time.

I usually wait to put the Halloween decorations out until October, so I pulled out everything that was just fall...and found only a few pumpkins, my squirrels, some leaves, and some burlap.

Everything else was Halloween stuff.
{Note to self: shop fall clearance....avoid Halloween clearance...unless it is really cute...}

So I put up my meager fall decorations and am now in the process of adding the Halloween decorations!

I'll post those pics soon!

Have a great day!
