Mini Jar Cupcakes

The other day, I needed to make a treat for a church activity.  I had jars, and have seen all of the jar cakes floating around Pinterest, and have been looking for a reason to try them.

They were really easy to make, and they turned out really cute…and yummy.

P1170715 To make your own, start with some little jars.  These are 4 oz. jelly jars.  I sprayed them with cooking spray, and placed them on a cookie sheet.  Next I made a cake mix, and then filled the jars.  I had enough batter to fill 24 jars and 24 slots in a mini muffin tin.

P1170695 When they were done baking, I let them cool, then added some fresh strawberries, a dob of ganache, and some chocolate chips.  We added whipped cream just before serving them.

P1170698 I will definitely be experimenting with jar cupcakes again—the possibilities are endless.

Have you made jar cakes?  Which kinds are your favorite?

March Visiting Teaching Message {Bloom}

In March’s message, President Thomas S. Monson encourages us to “reach out and rescue those who need our help and lift them to the higher road and the better way.” He continues, “It is the Lord’s work, and when we are on the Lord’s errand…we are entitled to the Lord’s help.”

We can help our sisters find their way back to the gospel by being a friend and example, and by loving them.  Our love and friendship can help our sisters to BLOOM in the gospel.

P1170689 For the message this month, I created a little booklet with the Visiting Teaching message from the Ensign in it.  I found some cute paper {a regular weight paper folds better than cardstock for this project}, and printed the message, then cut around the outside edge,P1170669

folded along the remaining lines, {if you are using cardstock, fold both directions.  Make sure your creases are sharp}

{I used double stick tape to secure the insides of the book’s pages, but you don’t have to do this step if you don’t want}, attach to skewer or popsicle stick,
