It is beautiful and has amazing views.
It has easy access to boating and 4-wheeling.
The people who live out here are hardy and tough and good.
Every summer, out here on the frontier, there is a new plague.
The year we moved in, it was crickets. Thousands of them. Everywhere.
The next summer, it was voles {small rodents that are a little bigger than mice, but not as big as rats, with shorter tails.}
Some years, it's large spiders.
Some years, it's snakes.
But one thing we have to deal with every year are the fires.
{all photos taken by my neighbors}
A friend of mine, taking into consideration everything that we deal with out here, nicknamed the area "The Threshold of Hell".
I'd say he's pretty accurate.So we are at the ready. We've gathered our belongings. We are ready to go if/when that call comes.
Hundreds in our town have already evacuated. Some homes have been damaged.
So we'll wait and see.

Prayers and hugs coming your way. I could see the smoke this morning as I was running kids around.
I've been thinking about you guys! We're praying they can get the fire under control and the losses to be minimal!
My kids all want you to come and stay at our house regardless if you have to or not.(:
Oh gosh! How scary!!! Prayers being sent your way! Keep us posted!
I have had you in mind and prayers since I heard about the fire. I am looking over our side of the mountains at clear sky's. (last night was way hazy in the Hebes)I am hoping that means good things. please keep an update.
Prayers are with you from Show Low, AZ! Those pics brought vivid memories of our Rodeo Chedisky fire about 10 years ago. It came within a block of our home and took 3 from our neighborhood. It is a stressful time for you with all of the watching, waiting, collecting, etc. Take good care of yourself physically as well as emotionally. After our fire many people came down with stress related illnesses. "This too shall pass" ! Hang in there.
