Since we moved into this house, we haven’t done a lot of updates, but have a lot of plans {dreams} to fix it up and make it our own.
My master bathroom is waaaaaaaay down the list of things that need to be spruced up. It’s not horrible, but I would love to paint the cabinets, maybe frame out the mirror and possibly add board and batten to one of the walls. And art. I should add art. And a larger rug. And maybe a storage cabinet. And I’ve never really loved the faucets and knobs that appear to be from the 90’s {our house was built in 2002}. They are a shiney gold and silver mix, but hey, mixing metals is super chic right now, so I guess I will wait on that one.
Anywho, the point is, there were no impending plans to fix up the bathroom when our friend, who is really great with a video camera and helps organize and film commercials and other productions, sent out a note on facebook looking for a bathroom with a double vanity that they could possibly use in a commercial. My husband told him he could come look at ours. He came later that night. It was a Monday.
The one really good thing that our bathroom has going for it is that it is a really good size. And it does have a double vanity. And great light. Long story short, they decided to use our bathroom to film the commercial in. They said we will be there at 8:00 a.m. next Wednesday. Good. Plenty of time to clean it really well and maybe even freshen it up a little.
Fast forward 2 days, and I am in my pajamas, glasses, no supportive undergarments and am getting my kids out the door for school. There comes a knock at the door.
They are here to do the commercial.
A week earlier than I thought.
I haven’t cleaned it, I haven’t done anything with it. To get to the bathroom, you have to go through the master bedroom. Also not clean. Bed not made. Ugh.
While they are moving in to my bedroom and bathroom, with their cameras, sound thingys, and computer equipment, I frantically {while trying to appear not frantic} make it not disgusting, and make my bed.
The camera crew doesn’t seem to notice or mind that my house is in such a state and once I get it to the point of tolerable, I get out of their way and spend the next 6 hours or so making sure that we are quiet. I hardly knew they were there. The were very quiet, super nice and gracious, and no trouble at all, and when they left, there was no sign that they had ever been here. In the end, it was a great experience and I would probably let my bathroom be in a commercial again.
One of the perks of hosting a commercial shoot in your bathroom for teeth whitener is that we were left with samples of the product. While we haven’t had the chance to try it yet, we have heard great things about Lumist and that you can get the same results whitening with it as you do at the dentist. I will keep you all posted on this.
So I’m going to share the commercial with you, but no judging my non-updated, barely clean bathroom.
Lumist - The Superior Whitening Strip
Oh, and if any of you are putting off updating or decorating your bathroom, get to it! You never know when they will be coming to shoot a commercial in it.
P.S. That horrible blue towel in the commercial is mine. From college. 20 years ago. I do have newer towels than this. I am a white-towel kind of girl. They asked for a colored towel. It was all I had. I didn’t know it was going to be in the commercial. I thought it would be used to mop up a mess or something. Sigh.
